What is a Root Canal?

A root canal is a dental operation used to treat pulp damage or infection. An infection of the pulp, which is found in the center of the tooth, can be caused by a deep cavity, a broken tooth, or other damage to the tooth. A root canal will seal the tooth once the infected pulp is removed, preventing further infections.

This surgery will help to retain your original tooth while also relieving your pain. Our goal at All Star Implants is to make your root canal as painless as we can.

Who Needs a Root Canal?

When the pulp of your tooth becomes inflamed or infected, root canal therapy is required. A root canal is frequently required for the following reasons:

  • Severe tooth decay
  • Deep cracks or fractures in the tooth
  • Trauma to the tooth, such as a blow or injury
  • Symptoms like persistent tooth pain, sensitivity to hot or cold, or swelling around the gums

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is important to consult with a dentist to determine if a root canal is necessary.

Types of Root Canal

At All Star Implants, we offer several types of root canal treatments depending on the location and severity of the infection. These include:

Anterior Root Canal

For front teeth, which are more visible, we use tooth-colored materials to ensure the restoration blends with your smile.

Posterior Root Canal

For molars or premolars, which are located at the back of the mouth, we may use a stronger material to support chewing forces while maintaining the integrity of the tooth.

Re-treatment

In some cases, a previous root canal may fail, and re-treatment is needed to clean and seal the area again.

Benefits of Root Canal Treatment

Choosing root canal therapy at All Star Implants comes with many benefits:

  • Pain Management: Root canal procedures are effective in managing pain associated with infection or inflammation of the pulp.
  • Retention of Natural Teeth: The procedure helps in retaining your natural teeth, thus eliminating the need for more complex procedures such as tooth extraction and dental implants.
  • Enhanced Functionality: After the infection has been eliminated and the tooth has been restored, you will be able to chew and speak freely.
  • Oral Health: Root canal procedures can help prevent the infection from spreading to other teeth, thus ensuring that your mouth is healthy.

The Root Canal Procedure

The Root Canal Procedure

At All Star Implants, we focus on making your root canal procedure as relaxing and efficient as possible. Here is what you can expect:

Step 1: Initial Consultation

During your consultation, our dentist will assess the tooth that is affected and may take X-rays to determine the severity of the damage. We will discuss your symptoms and go over the procedure in detail.

Step 2: Anesthesia

Before the procedure, we will administer a local anesthetic to numb the area so that you do not feel any pain during the procedure. Sedation is also available for patients with dental fear.

Step 3: Dental Cleaning

To access the pulp, the dentist will create a tiny hole in the tooth. The tooth will then undergo thorough dental cleaning and will be ready for sealing after the damaged or infected pulp is removed.

Step 4: Sealing the Tooth

A biocompatible substance will be used to seal the root canal and stop re-infection once the tooth has been cleansed. Until a permanent crown is installed, the tooth may be protected with a temporary filling.

Step 5: Restoration

To restore the tooth’s strength and function following root canal therapy, we may recommend placing a dental crown as part of the final restoration. The crown will be manufactured specifically to fit the color and contour of your tooth

  • Root Canal Procedure: 1-2 hours

I have been going to Bright smiles Denistry for a long time. They are awesome. The inside staff changed but it’s on. The dental person who cleans my teeth was a little rough but I’m good. The dentist is very gentle and kind. I was sad when they stopped taking Medicaid but it’s their business so my kids had to go to another place. That was not an easy transition either, but it’s done. Try them out and see for yourself.
